Always ready
The replay buffer runs in the background. You never have to remember to hit record.
Free beta · Windows 10 & 11
Krak keeps the last seconds of your game in memory. Hit a key and the clip is saved, instantly. No account, no cloud, no watermark.
The app
Nothing to set up: Krak works right after install. The advanced options are there, tucked away.

Your library, sorted by game. Favorites, search, rename, multi-select.
How it works
Krak runs in the background and asks for nothing. The day you pull off the play of your life, it is already recorded.
The last seconds stay in memory, all the time (30 by default, up to 5 minutes). Encoded by your graphics card, built to be invisible on your FPS.
The clip is written straight from memory, no re-encoding. A discreet notification confirms it is in the bag.
Cut it in the editor, adjust the sound, then export for Discord at 10, 50 or 500 MB. Or keep the MP4: it is yours.
Features
A real clipping tool, made to stay out of your way while you play.
The replay buffer runs in the background. You never have to remember to hit record.
Hardware encoding on your graphics card: native NVENC on NVIDIA, Media Foundation on AMD and Intel. If it gets tight, Krak lightens itself instead of dropping frames.
Trim bar, waveforms, game and mic volume set separately and remembered for each clip.
Krak captures the screen with the Windows API, like OBS or Discord. It never touches a game or reads its memory.
Clips are plain MP4 files on your drive. Nothing is uploaded anywhere unless you decide to.
One-click export under 10 MB, 50 MB or 500 MB, whatever your plan. Optional “by krak” badge.
Record a whole session without stopping the replay. Written as it goes: a crash costs one second, not your session.
Ctrl + F9: full-resolution PNGs, with their own page.
Game and microphone on their own tracks, plus a mix every player picks by default.
Your friends see Krak on your Discord profile. Can be turned off.
Krak follows the language of Windows: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Polish, Turkish, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese.
Signed updates, installed in one click. You always have the latest version.

FAQ
Yes. Krak is free and open source (GPL-3.0 license). No subscription, no ads, no account to create.
No. Krak captures the screen with Windows’ desktop duplication API (DXGI), the same one OBS and Discord use. It never injects into a game and never reads its memory.
Encoding runs on your graphics card, in a part of the chip dedicated to video, so the impact is built to be invisible. If the encoder can’t keep up (a very heavy game, a very high frame rate), Krak switches to lighter settings on its own instead of dropping frames.
Yes. On NVIDIA, Krak talks to NVENC directly. On AMD and Intel it goes through Windows Media Foundation, with a software fallback. Native AMD and Intel encoders are on the way.
Yes, for now. Krak is new and its installer isn’t code-signed yet, so SmartScreen doesn’t know it. Click “More info”, then “Run anyway”. Code signing is planned before the stable release.
In a folder on your PC (Videos\Krak by default, you can change it in the settings), as standard MP4 files that any player opens.
No. There is no account and no telemetry. The only thing Krak does online is check GitHub for updates.
Not for now: capture relies on Windows APIs (DXGI, WASAPI). Krak runs on Windows 10 and 11.
Open the clip, trim it if you want, then Export: pick 10 MB (no Nitro), 50 MB or 500 MB and Krak fits the clip under the limit.
Yes: like them, Krak keeps your last seconds and saves them with one key. The difference: everything stays on your PC, with no account, and the code is open.
Krak updates itself. To uninstall it, go to Windows Settings › Apps. Your clips stay in their folder.
Gladly: report a bug, suggest an idea or translate Krak on GitHub. And tell your friends about Krak, it helps a lot.
